Marta Zubieta
Two websites merged into one for a Bristol artist and muralist, live in a week.
One home for the work and the shop
Marta Zubieta is a pop-surrealist artist, illustrator and muralist based in Bristol. Her work covers murals, festival artwork, packaging and illustration, and she sells prints, paintings and merchandise online.
She had two separate websites, one for her portfolio and one for her shop. EG brought them together into one site at martazubieta.com. It went live a week after we started, and the switch-over was seamless. Marta is happy with it: it is cleaner, faster and much easier to find your way around.
The brief.
The portfolio and the shop looked like two different brands, with two logins and twice the upkeep. The work and the products never linked to each other, and the shop design competed with the art. Everything had to move across without losing any work, products, orders or search rankings, while the shop kept selling.

How we approached it.
-
One site for the work and the shop
Portfolio and shop now sit together with one login and one basket. A project can point to the print of the same artwork, and a print can point back to the project it came from.
-
Every project and product moved across
All of her projects, products and past orders came over, and every old web address leads to its new page, so nothing was lost and search rankings carried across.
-
A shop you can browse by theme
Products can be browsed by type or by the themes that run through her work, such as 90s nostalgia, tarot and pop culture.
-
A plain gallery where the art gives the colour
A simple black and white layout lets the work lead. Artwork is never cropped, and the site works in light and dark mode.
-
