No Nothing Records
Custom WordPress website for a record label, with an artist roster the label runs itself.
A stark, type-led site for a record label
No Nothing Records is a record label. The site is as bare as the name: black type on white, black and white photographs of the artists, and nothing else.
EG built it as a custom WordPress theme: a homepage with a carousel of artists, a page for each artist, the label’s manifesto, a press page and a contact page with a newsletter sign-up.
The brief.
The label adds artists as it signs them and planned to update its own copy, so the site had to be easy to run without a developer. The design had to stay stark: no colour, no decoration, large type and photographs.

How we approached it.
-
An artist roster the label manages
Each artist is one entry: a name, a short text, a location, a booking email and a photograph. Adding an entry gives the artist their own page and a place in the homepage carousel.
-
Manifesto, press and contact on one settings screen
The manifesto, press mentions and contact details all live on a single settings screen, so the label changes the words without touching a page layout.
-
Newsletter sign-up
The sign-up form feeds the label's mailing list, and can be pointed at a different email service if they change provider.
-
Photographs optimised on upload
Photographs are resized and converted to modern formats when they are uploaded, so pages of large images still load quickly.
